While we were in NYC the other week, all 11 of us went to see Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, my very first Broadway show experience! I was so excited, mainly because I really love Hedwig, but also because I knew NPH would totally kill it.
The entire experience was so fantastic - the theatre was great, and despite the fact that there weren't too many set stages since there was no intermission, it still found some clever ways to keep things interesting and not look too similar (the visuals during Origin of Love were beautiful).
NPH was incredible, as expected, and the crowd was eating it all up; laughing along throughout the start of the show, and by the end there were multiple people audibly crying. It was really a terrific experience. I really wish I could have seen it with my friend Madison who's a huge fan (she even has a Hedwig tattoo) but it was great to be there with 10 other close friends.
I'd love to go see another more classic Broadway show some day (Wicked? Chicago? Les Mis?) but this was the perfect first show.
